Happy News! The Latest Issue of MEZZO CAMMIN ls Out & Includes My “Sonnets Before the Sixth Extinction”

Rudbeckia in Our Garden, 2026 (Leslie Schultz)

Every issue of Mezzo Cammin: An Online Journal of Formalist Poetry by Women is an event for me. The mix of poetry and graphic art is always exciting. Take a look at the Table of Contents for the Summer 2026 issue and you’ll see what I mean. And I am especially happy that a pair of sonnets of my own are included: “Sonnets Before the Sixth Extinction.” I suppose it is an ars poetica of my own, sparked by environmental concerns surrounding climate change, and containing a volta (or turn) between the two sonnets.

I would love to know what you think about my own poem, and about the other fine poems in this issue.
