Thank you for this incredible post about the history of small free libraries. The photographs and the stories were wonderful . We have such a tiny gem in the park we now walk in every day. Children are drawn to it like a magnet perhaps because it’s small and filled with books. One young browser was disappointed to find no children’s books so I thought I might bequeath some of yours ! Thank you Leslie !!
I do, too! I think of them being like dollhouse libraries.
In 2014 ago, I did a post on this whole civilized cultural phenomenon, and I then did an update in 2017.These are timeless, aren’t they?
Comfort and Joy for sure. The first post includes an essay from my friend, Ann, who explains why she chose to tend one.
A splendid thing for books to find readers!

I love this mini dovecote. Here’s a companion piece. I always feel better when I stumble upon one of these “small comforts”. Thank you Leslie.
