Lately, I have been wondering. Now I know.
Here’s what democracy looks like:
It is precious and beautiful.
It is peaceful but determined.
It is many voices raised, in praise of truth
and true community–all ages, colors, points of view.
It is poetry in action.
And it matters.
Thank you, Leslie. I included a link in my blog to your poem and photos.
Thank you!
I love your touching poem and pictures.
In time of darkness we need to remember to live honestly with compassion and solidarity. We can’t forget that solidarity refers to the ties in a society that bind people together as one.
Thanks!
Thank you Leslie for the poem that brought the day together. I wanted to study the posters, but there they were all together with us, Northfield’s Latinos. Every one clapped at every word, and they all looked so beautiful. It was easy to tear up, but hard to manage not to hug.
I wanted to see some of the posters, but seeing so many of our Northfield Latinos was even more warming. This for the first time, so many. It was easy to tear up and almost impossible not to start hugging, but we managed. Thank you for the poem that keeps its arms around the day
Beautiful. Love the poem and images together.
(Also think your signature is cool…have I missed noticing that? Or is this the first time you’ve used it here?)
Beautiful and right. Thank you for the post.
I marched January 21 in Brownsville TX. Very heartening.
Marvelous!
Beautiful, and heartening in a dark time.
Beautiful! In every way.
Yeah America, and Amen!
Lovely! How about “We are all immigrants”! A phrase someone at work had posted on her bulletin in her office.
